2011 - 2015 Boards of Management
The Board of Management of a Primary School is a Body Corporate, a legal entity in it's own right. That is a succession or collection of persons having, in the estimation of the law, an existance and rights and duties seperate from those of the persons who form it from time to time. The board must be constituted as per the prescribed procedures defined in 'Boards of Management of National Schools Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure.
St. Senan's Education office is providing training in support of the establishment of new boards commencing on September 13th. For further information please go to the Training Section.

Procedures for the Nomination/Appointment of Patrons' Nominees:
- Nominations for Patron Representatives should be co-ordinated through the local Curate, Parish Priest or Parish Council.
- One of the persons recommended to act as Patron's representative should be nominated as Chairperson.
- Nominations should be submitted to St. Senan's Education Office on or by Friday 9th September.
- Nominations may be submitted electronically using the online form or by post (please click her to download a copy of the form to be returned).
- Nominations made are subject to the Patrons' Approval. A letter of approval will issue to all appointed Patrons' Representatives.
Procedures for the Election of Parents' Nominees
- The outgoing Chairperson is responsible for initiating the election of the Parents' Representatives.
- Further information on the applicable procedure will be provided at training for outgoing chairpersons and in the revised edition of Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure (scheduled for release by the DES at the end of Sept.).
- Names and contact details of the elected Parents' Nominees should be submitted to St. Senan's Education Office using the online form at your earliest convenience.
Procedures for the Election of the Staff Nominee
- The outgoing Chairperson is responsible for initiating the election of the Staff' Nominee.
- Further information on the applicable procedure will be provided at training for outgoing chairpersons and in the revised edition of Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure (scheduled for release by the DES at the end of Sept.).
- Names and contact details of the elected Staff Nominee should be submitted to St. Senan's Education Office using the online form at your earliest convenience.
Procedures for the Election of Community Nominees
- The incoming Chairperson is responsible for initiating the election of the Community Nominees.
- Further information on the applicable procedure will be provided at training for outgoing chairpersons and in the revised edition of Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure (scheduled for release by the DES at the end of Sept.)
- Names and contact details of the appointed Community' Nominees should be submitted to St. Senan's Education Office using the online form at your earliest convenience.
Notifying the Patron of board of management member details.
- Incoming Chairpersons/Secretaries to Boards of Management are asked to submitted the names and contact details of all board members on or by November 23rd, 2011
- Details of board of management members can be submitted using the relevant online forms.
- The first training session in support of new boards is scheduled for Thursday 1st Dec. 2011. For information on all training venues and dates please go to the Training Section.
Declaration of Acceptance of Membership of School Board
- All members of the board are requested to sign the Declaration of Acceptance of Membership of School Board.
- The Declaration should be kept with the minutes of the first Ordinary Meeting of the newly established board of management.
