Notification of Vacancies:
As per DES circular 0019/2011, schools are required to notify allteachingvacancies (for the 2011/12 school year), both permanent and fixed term(for the duration of the school year), to the Diocesan Education Secretary by Friday 11th March.
If your B.O.M. has, as of yet, to inform the Diocesan Education Secretary of such a vacancy please do so immediately. Vacancies that arise after this date must be notified to St. Senan’s Education Office within 5 days of the vacancy becoming known to the school chairperson or principal.
Notification of redeployment panel vacancies can be made online at www.stsenansed.ie and we kindly request that you include the following information:
School name, address, roll no., tel. & email; B.O.M. Chairperson email address; Number & detail of vacancies; Contact details for person(s) responsible for coordinating the selection process; Status of the post i.e. permanent or fixed term.
Deferral of Redeployment Panel Rights
- Permanent & CID teachers may defer their panel rights in the normal manner should a fixed term vacancy arise in their school.
- Fixed-term teachers (supplementary panel) may defer their panel rights for a fixed term vacancy only after the DES is satisfied that such posts are not required to be filled by Main Panel teachers.
Distribution of School Vacancies List
- The list of school vacancies willbe notified to teachers within 3 days of the receipt of the panel list from the DES. This information will initially be sent via post to the contact address provided. Subsequent updates will be sent via email, late afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.
Distribution of the Panel List
- The list of panel teachers will be emailed to the B.O.M. Chairpersons and the Principals of schools with registered vacancies within 3 days of receipt of the panel list.
- Updated copies of the list will be circulated as panel teachers are placed.
Offer of Panel Vacancies
Teaching vacancies within a 45km radius must be offered to permanent and CID teachers on the main panel in the following order of priority:
- Permanent vacancies.
- Fixed-term vacancies that are either for the full school year or are sanctioned during Sept /Oct. for the remainder of the school year.
Period of Operation
- The DES has specified a three week timeframe, during which schools with vacancies must interact with teachers on the panel.
- The panel will remain in operation until such a time as the Diocesan Education Secretary advises otherwise.
- While the panel is in operation there will be a total embargo on the advertising of permanent teaching positions and fixed term teaching vacancies (of a duration of the full school year).
- Fixed term vacancies that will be sanctioned during Sept./Oct. ’11 and are for the duration of the remainder of the school year must also be notified to St. Senan’s Education Office.
- The notification requirements of permanent and fixed term vacancies will apply at all times irrespective of whether or not the panel is in operation.
Failure to Comply:
- Should a board fail to comply with the requirements of Circular 0019/2011, the sanctions; as detailed in Circular 02/2009, will be applied by the DES.
- A teacher on a panel who is called for interview and refuses to attend will forfeit his/her panel rights and will be removed from the payroll at the end of his/her contract period or at the end of the school year whichever is the earlier.
Please Note:
As a result of the additional steps to the operation of the panel, namely the distribution of the list of vacancies to teachers on the panel, the following scenario has been created.
A teacher on the panel may contact a school with a listed vacancy. How should the school proceed with the appointment process in this instance?
St. Senan’s Education Office recommends that schools who find themselves in this position should conduct interviews for the available listed vacancy/vacancies. Every panel member that has contacted the school prior to the commencement of the selection process should be invited to attend for interview. Interview panels and formats should operate as normal.
